CEF/X Tip #4

As I've used Cutting Edge F/X, I've experimented with some combinations of effects or slight modifications to completed effects. Here are a few of the results:

1. Create an object and run the Waffler effect with the flat option.

02

2. Select the "waffled" object and run the Sheetmetal effect at defaults, with minimal offset for the drop shadow. Combine the metal and drop shadow objects.

03

1. Create an object and run the Smash effect with the 3D option.

04

2. Select the "smashed" object and run the Enamel effect. Depending on the size of the original object, you may wish to lower the edge size.

05

3. Select the "enameled" object and run the Silverplate effect, with a drop shadow offset of 1, 1. Combine the Silverplate object and its drop shadow. If you have color remaining from the Enamel effect, desaturate the image (Image | Adjust | Desaturate).

1. Create an object and run the Stressed Out effect.

08

2. Select the "stressed" object and run AddBorder 1 at a width of 1, using a border color slightly lighter than stressed object fill.

3. Run the Effects | Sharpen | Unsharp Mask filter to sharpen the final object.

09

1. Create an object and run the Gothic filter, with the Combine option unchecked.

10

2. Select top lead object and run the Flamed effect.

11

3. Select the black/blue object and use the Image | Adjust | Replace Colors filter with the settings shown here to add a red glow to the burning object.
