Gathered Vee Neckband Tee
Back to Index

This is the finished tee.

I started with my TNT undarted tee pattern.

First, I offset a neckband from the front pattern neckline (1) and then cut it away from the pattern (2). Next, I slashed/spread at the neckband seam to create extra fabric for gathers. The pivot point is at the small pink circle in (3). I trued the seamlines (4) and added seam allowances (5).

I created a back neckband in the same manner as the front neckband. The sleeve is copied from a Diana Mode pattern (#23-31), although I ended up using the original Diana Mode sleeves since they fit into my armhole just fine.

I sewed two rows of basting stitches, pulled the gathers into place, and then secured them with two strips of fusible interfacing. The neckband is attached in this photo, but the seam allowances between neckband and bodice have not yet been serged/overlocked.

After front and back bands were attached, I edgestitched.
