a. Open PHOTO-PAINT 8 and create a new RGB image, 300x95
pixels, 72 pixels per inch (dpi).
b. Select the Type tool and with the Render Type to Mask option disabled (check the Property Bar), type the word "Emboss." For this example, we used Crillee Italic at 96 points. The text color at this
point does not matter.
Figure 1
c. Create a mask from the text object (Ctrl+M) and then select the background layer from the Objects Docker (Ctrl+F7).
Figure 2
d. Invert the mask (Ctrl+I) and then create an object from a copy of the selection (Ctrl+UpArrow). The new object should look like a stencil of the original
text. See Figure 3.
Figure 3
e. With the stencil object selected, open Cutting Edge F/X and scroll to the PuffPillow effect. Change the effect color to R128 G128 B128, leave the other
options set to the default values, and apply the effect as a new image. Keep the Cutting Edge F/X dialog open.
Figure 4
f. Select the "Emboss" text object and with the same settings as Step E above, apply the PuffPillow effect. Close Cutting Edge F/X.
Figure 5
g. Drag the PuffPillow object in Figure 5 onto Figure 6. The drop shadow will be left behind. Close the image with the remaining drop shadow without saving.
Figure 7
h. Drag or nudge the "Emboss" object into place and delete the drop shadow layer. Combine the remaining two objects with the background layer
(Ctrl+Shift+DnArrow).
i. Select the Crop tool and crop the image to remove the "Puffed" image borders.
